Throughout this book, Rupi Kaur's various poems reflect the theme of healing. Kaur's poetry comforts the readers as throughout her many poems, she reiterates that every being is born unique and important in this world. It also conveys the message that a person's shortcomings don’t define them. Her poems instill in the readers a feeling of confidence, that even after difficulties of the past, they can work towards a better future. With every following poem, the tone of the poem becomes more positive and strong. Through her poems, Rupi Kaur addresses the obstacles she has faced, as well as the obstacles women at large often face. The concept of self-love is echoed throughout Milk and Honey. Through her poetry, the motivates women to stand up strong and independent, to love and support one another. She celebrates the natural beauty of a woman and shuns any societal constructs about how women ought to behave, dress and groom themselves.
